Becoming Büchertiger is autobiographic and tells the story how I decided to live as an
artist instead of having a 'real job' as a mathematician.
It is also an experiment with minimal story telling and minimal sketching:
I tried to use as few words
as possible to tell the story. And I decided not only to draw myself as a stickfigure, but as a
stickfigure without a face and facial expressions. The main difficulty was to express feelings
with these restrains.
Therefore colors play an important role in this booklet. Often, instead of the expression
changing, you see a change in the color of the dress as you can see in the above two pictures.
This is a leather bound book in a medieval long stitch with 145 handsketched pages,
5.5cm x 3.5cm small from rag paper.
sketches are hand drawn with felttip marker and colored with pencils.
Finished in April 2009.
